About AIR

AIR “artists in residence”  gives a peek into what our approach is with our downtown Westerly venue.

With three rooms and an abundance of space, we hope visitors will find exhibitions that brings contemporary art to the community in surprising and inventive ways.

At AIR we want the community to feel welcome and are encouraged to drop in for a conversation and enjoy art. With a range of work at a variety of price points,  There is something for everyone at AIR.

AIR is also a busy studio where you can find two artists in the midst of the creative process.

Pop in and say hello!

Michael Fanelli & Annie Wildey

Who we are

  • Annie has exhibited in 15 solo exhibitions, 166 group shows, and has curated 15 exhibitions. She has a post graduate fellowship and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art.

Originally from the UK, Annie moved to New York city in the late 80's. Upon leaving a long career in business with the British Gov't, she studied art asd a mature student at the New York Academy of Art.  After graduating Annie moved to the East End of Long Island, then Mystic CT, eventually settled in Westerly, RI.

A painter first and printmaker second, Annie explores moments of beauty, wonder and awe in the coastal landscape. She interprets the landscape through a fluid process of moving between freedom and control, accident and intention, pushing and pulling paint around to translate a subject in motion.

She opened AiR Studio Gallery with partner Michael Fanelli in Dec 2022.

  • Michael Fanelli is a New England based photographer and graphic designer.

He uses the camera to render images intentionally using the language of traditional photography, even when pursuing experimental imagery. Celebrating what can be seen with a camera that at times may not be viewable to the eye. Subject, light, composition, and moment are the essential aspects of his work.
