Diana Sartor
In Her Own Words
A mixed media artist, Diana enjoys the twists and turns of where her creative process takes her. The exploration of techniques and materials leads her to new ideas and fresh results. We know her for her bold color and sensuous paintings or hand painted collage papers. We are treated to some of her new work in this exhibition . Sculptural pieces using the technique known as Joomchi. These works have a more delicate palette dictated by the paper, combined with twigs and sticks. Joomchi is a traditional Korean way of making textured handmade paper forms using mulberry paper. The technique creates strong, textural, and painterly surfaces by layering and agitating the paper.
About Diana
Diana is a mixed media artist who lives and maintains a studio along the coast of Rhode Island. She graduated from Hartford Art School, University of Hartford cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Diana and her husband realized a longtime dream twenty years ago and moved to coastal Rhode Island. Finding more time to paint, she began connecting with local artists, joined several cooperative arts organizations and built a studio overlooking one of the shoreline’s pristine salt ponds. The seeds of connection and creativity have grown and strengthened over time. Her studio is a sanctuary, a cozy cocoon where she continues to delight in exploring new ideas and mediums.
She remains an active member of the area’s art community and enjoys a following of collectors throughout New England and New York.
